Managing A Lottery Syndicate For Dummies

Lotteries offer the common person a glimmer of hope to become rich and solve all of their financial problems. People realise these days that the more lottery tickets you hold, the better your chances on winning the lottery are.

For the UK National Lottery, there are about 14,000,000 different combinations so if you have one line, or one ticket, you one 1 in 14,000,000 chances of winning. Now if you have, say, 1000 tickets you have 1 in 14,000 chances of winning so your odds increase considerably. But purchasing 1000 tickets is beyond most people’s means. Who could afford $1000 a week? So the answer is to join a syndicate and spread the cost and share the benefits of better odds.

If you were in a 100 person syndicate paying $10 a week into the pool and you won $10,000,000 you would each win around $100,000. Not bad for your $10 investment.

When you start a syndicate you should make sure you set things up properly because there will always be disputes and arguments especially concerning people who leave or join.

  • Put everything in writing. Set up a contract detailing the rules of your syndicate and get everyone to sign it. All members should have a copy, give a copy to a solicitor or independent adjudicator and display a copy where you can all see it. Here are some things you should include in your contract.
  • Decide on the maximum number of people you allow in to your syndicate.
  • If you are going to play the same numbers each time, ensure they are noted in the contract.
  • Decide who will be responsible for filling out the tickets and putting the tickets on each week. Include that in the contract and ensure a system is in place to deal with occasions when this person is unavailable. The ticket stubs should be made available by this person(s) as proof that the tickets were put on.
  • Decide how and who will collect weekly subscriptions.
  • Decide what will happen if someone misses a subscription – will they be excluded from a win, or will their subscription be made up by others? If someone misses a set number of consecutive subscriptions, you might want to exclude them fro the syndicate and allow someone else in. – Whatever you decide, ensure it is in the contract.
  • Decide what happens with minor prizes. Do they get carried over and saved for distribution at a later date (for example Christmas) or are they shared out when the amount reaches a certain level. Or do you play additional lines when there’s a roll over for example?
  • Check your local tax laws to see whether you need to declare the syndicate for tax purposes.
  • Check with your employer to ensure you have permission to run a syndicate on their premises and in their time.
  • Decide how people can leave and join your syndicate. If you have a maximum of 20 people allowed, you might have a waiting list of people who want to join.

This is by no means an exhaustive list, but any contract is better than no contract at all.

The most common kind of dispute is when someone has missed a payment, and the syndicate have a win that week. If it is the jackpot – there will be arguments over whether that person should be included in the payout. Decide now, document it and get everyone to sign up to the rules. Even if you have been running a syndicate for years, it is not too late to initiate a contract. Get everyone together, discuss and agree the rules, get them down on paper and get everyone to sign up to them.

The same applies to family syndicates. To avoid any rifts and arguments, make sure everyone knows the rules.

Can You Really Improve Your Chances Of Winning The Lottery

The Lottery is a game of chance, with the odds stacked against you horrendously. In the UK National Lottery for example the chances of winning the jackpot by picking all 6 numbers from 49 is around 14 million to one. So how do you make these odds of a lottery win lower?

If you do a search online there are tons of places offering you their own take on improving your chances of a lottery win, these range from the unrealistic to the believable, but most will cost you quite a few lottery tickets to find out if they will work. You will see software programs which keep databases of all the lottery picking machines, and ball sets used in every draw, and statistically analyse the frequency of each number appearing in a lottery draw. These will then spit out sets of numbers which have shown up more often overall.

Yet another batch of products will take your money in return for their writers own system of picking winning numbers for which they will show proof of their lottery winning results. Some will sell you their set of numbers which has proven to win regularly over many months or years. And if you want to get really left of centre you can pay to have good luck, or money winning spells cast for you by modern witchcraft practitioners, or buy charms with as yet understood powers to influence the outcome of the draws in your favour.

But are there any other ways to increase your chances of winning the lottery?

The answer is yes, and one of the most obvious and overlooked methods is by joining a syndicate, you can leverage your stake by putting it with other peoples stakes to buy more tickets between you. More tickets each week means more chances of winning but you will also share the prizes won with everyone in the syndicate. You also need to be in a syndicate with people you can trust but that’s something only you can know.

Whichever way you look at it the lottery is a gamble, and the odds are stacked against you, but you can reduce those odds by working with others in a lottery syndicate.

How To Increase Your Chances of Winning the Lottery

Use clever practices that paid off for past lottery winners to enhance your likelihood of scoring big.

Everyone dreams of winning the lottery, so why not try to get one step closer to your fantasy? Sure, winning a big payday is a long shot, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun playing.

We’ll walk you through some basic strategies you can use to improve your chances, from ways to pick numbers to different games you can play.

Ready to give your probability of hitting the jackpot a little boost? Review these tips to turn up the entertainment value of playing the lottery and you may just hear your winning numbers one day.

Invest in smaller lottery games with less numbers to choose from. When the jackpot climbs for the world’s biggest lotteries, most people forget about the smaller games. These games often have better odds and are more likely to pay out. Look for games that pick from a smaller set of numbers or fewer balls. The main trade-off is that these games pay less in prize money than the most popular games.

Regional lottery games have better odds than big games like Powerball and Mega Millions. For example, try a state pick-3 game. You only have to pick 3 numbers to win instead of 5 or 6.

The less numbers a game has, the less combinations there will be, so you’re more likely to select a winning sequence.

Purchase scratch cards for a quicker and simpler way to play. Many regional lotteries offer scratch-off games. These cards are instant and have better odds of awarding money than big lottery drawings. While the payouts tend to be on the lower side, you could still win a big cash prize if you’re lucky.

Scratch cards are quick and accessible. Most lottery commissions have a number of different games to play. You could get cheap cards or play pricier games with bigger prizes.

A typical scratch card offers 1:5 odds at best, meaning that 1 in every 5 cards is a winner. This could mean winning a prize of $1 CAD or a big jackpot. It depends on the game.

Check your tickets for alternative ways to win. Everyone has their eyes on the jackpot, but many lottery games offer smaller prizes as well. Read up about the rules of the game. They are typically posted on your ticket or on the lottery’s website. Instead of assuming you lost, double-check your ticket and you might notice a fun surprise.

For example, Powerball offers 9 ways to win. You can win a small prize by picking the number o

The History Of Lottery

Lotteries have been with us for a long time. They go so far back that they’re mentioned in the Bible, and Caesar himself is known to have encouraged lottery games in Rome to help pay for repair work that needed to be done in the city. Legend has it that even the Great Wall of China was paid for by the proceeds of lottery games.

In medieval times, Europe was a hotbed of lottery activity. In 1420, residents of the French town of L’Ecluse decided to follow Caesar’s lead by using a public lottery to help raise money; this time to increase the town’s defenses. Charitable causes prompted officials in the Belgium city of Bruges to hold a lottery in 1466 to raise money for the poor and needy.

In the early 16th century, the Italians caught lottery fever when they introduced the idea of a ‘number’ lottery in Florence. Interestingly, the word ‘lottery’ is thought to originate from the Italian ‘lotto’, which simply means “fate”.

Royalty caught on to lottery’s moneymaking potential in 1520, when King Francis I of France held the first ever state lottery. The proceeds went to the Royal Court. Forty years later, in the 1560s, lottery fever crossed the English Channel when Queen Elizabeth I decided to hold her own state lottery to raise money to improve England’s ailing harbors. Her Majesty’s prizes included tapestry and money.

The lottery gained in popularity in England over the next two centuries. The British Museum in London, today one of the finest in the world, was actually started on the proceeds of a lottery in 1753.

Lotteries were particularly popular in the New World in the 18th century. Benjamin Franklin used one to pay for the cannons that helped win the American War of Independence, and they were also used to pay money to the army. The Mountain Road, one of the key routes into the west from Virginia, was paid for with a lottery organized by George Washington.

Individuals were fond of them too; Thomas Jefferson (the third U.S. President) sold most of his property through a lottery scheme. Many of America’s historic colleges and universities were initially set up with the proceeds of lotteries. Most notably, these include many of the universities in the prestigious Ivy League.

Within the last couple of centuries, lotteries have been legalized and implemented in pretty much every country in the world. As the numbers of people playing become bigger, so do the prizes; a jackpot in the USA’s Big Game lottery in 2000 reached $363 million.

Lottery Syndicates

Lottery Syndicates – Should You Participate?

There are times when you’ve got to look up to the power of “One” and there are times when you just have to say “Team”. When talking of lotteries, you increase your chances of winning manifold when you participate in an e-lottery syndicate.

An online syndicate harnesses the power of the internet to enable people participating in a lottery to win more frequently. This happens because when you purchase a lottery via a syndicate, you automatically make yourself eligible for the winnings of other members. In essence you are entering a given lottery draw multiple times at no extra cost. Thus, your chances of winning increase exponentially. Of course, the winnings are split between the participants. So, an e-lottery syndicate is basically a trade-off between a potentially huge lottery win against better chances of winning a smaller packet

Syndicates can span many countries; for example Virtual World Direct (VWD), which runs a syndicated effort for the Euro Millions lottery, is available to citizens from Belgium, France, Spain, Austria, Ireland, Portugal, Switzerland, and Luxembourg. The vast player population along with the combined lotteries of different nations makes Euro Millions the biggest bumper lottery system out there.

By becoming a member of an e-lottery syndicate you get access to some of the largest tax-free lotteries in the world. Membership is easy; all that is required is a computer with an internet connection and a credit card. With an e-lottery syndicate you do not need to keep purchasing tickets every week and visit your lottery seller for checking results. The whole system is computerized and when you win you are intimated by email. You do not have to go anywhere to collect your winnings, they are sent to your house.

There are several online resources which review e-lottery syndicates. You can refer these before you decide upon the syndicate most suited to your style and pocket. Membership fees may vary and the number of participants in a group can also differ. You should also check for member reviews on different online forums, inputs from your countrymen can be especially revealing. Check for the kind of customer service and back-office support offered by the syndicate. Of course, scams abound and you should be alert and not fall prey to anything that sounds too good to be true.

Two popular lottery syndicates are the UK National Lottery syndicate and Euro Millions syndicate run by VWD. The UK National Lottery syndicate consists of multiple groups with 49 members in each group. So, the winnings in a group are shared by 49 members. With just £5, you make yourself eligible to winning against 88 lines that open every week. The money is to be paid 4 weeks in advance. The draw occurs twice a week. The VWU Euro Millions syndicate has 39 members to a group and there are 36 lines in each draw.

Finally, you could also take a look at the range of software available for lottery and gaming enthusiasts. This includes syndicate management software for syndicates, entry management software, and lottery analysis software for the players.

Is Participating In A Lottery Syndicate Better Than Playing Alone?

When considering the prospects of joining a lottery syndicate a key question that props up unfailingly is that what makes playing in a syndicate better than going alone, that too when you have to share your winnings with others.

Well, there are several reasons why it pays to play with a syndicate rather than play alone. Indeed, why would lottery syndicates be flourishing if they weren’t offering concrete gains to their patrons.

Testimonials from people who have joined a lottery syndicate are always positive in their tone. With a lottery syndicate you win more frequently, this itself is a very gratifying proposition for those who have been playing on their own for years without having won anything. The reason why you win more with a syndicate is that you are eligible for the winnings of other people. This increase in probability of a win implies that virtually everybody takes home some winnings more often than not.

You are not required to match more than two numbers to win some money and often one number is guaranteed even before the balls are rolled. If we were to put that in figures, playing UK Lotto through a syndicate gives you a 700% greater chance at winning and your chances of winning at Euro Millions increase by a whopping 3600%. Another hard fact is that according to Camelot statistics, 66% or two out of three wins are claimed by syndicate members. These impressive figures are sustained because of what lottery players gain by joining a lottery syndicate.

Of course, since the winnings are divided between players, the earnings are low; however, as you play they accumulate to give you a substantial sum over a period. A syndicate also opens up other avenues of earning such as an affiliate program and various competitions and bonuses that are on offer from time to time.

An affiliate program is often the major deciding factor for people wanting to join a lottery syndicate. The reasons for this are many – the most attractive one being the chance to play for free once you get a few people to join, with some syndicates the number is as low as five. For instance, there are lottery syndicates that let you play the UK Lotto for free if you can get five people to join, get ten and you get to play Euro Millions for free as well. There are also jackpot prizes to be won by affiliate members and many performance incentives are present so that the returns for maintaining your affiliate website – yes, you get a website – are many times the effort you put into running the affiliate program. So, basically an affiliate program with a lottery syndicate offers you an opportunity to start a very well-paying business with minimum capital investment.

When you join a syndicate you are assured of working with a site that conducts its business in the right spirit and in compliance with the law. You can always check online for the right syndicate, the reputed ones are members of recognized regulatory bodies such as the Lotteries Council in England.

How To Play Lottery

Just about every country in the world has its own version of the lottery and in the USA alone there are dozens of different rules depending on whether you play a state lottery or the national lottery. This article will list the common rules that exist for most versions of the lottery. Most states impose a minimum age limit on players, ranging from 16 to 21.

The game begins when the player receives a lottery ticket or slip. In some instances, a board may be used. We’ll imagine that the player is using a ticket in these instructions. The ticket will have rows or columns of boxes containing numbers from 1 through 49.

The player needs to choose six numbers between 1 and 49 and mark their choices on the ticket, usually by putting a cross through the number. In some versions of the game, multiple sets of numbers can be used at once. A common alternative to this routine is to have the numbers chosen at random by the computer. This saves the player time and is useful for those who suffer from indecision!

Players should make sure that all the other information on the ticket is filled in, including name and address and the type of game, or ‘draw’, being played. In some instances, players may be able to choose to play the same numbers for multiple weeks. The choices really do vary from game to game so players need to carefully read through all of the given information when making their decision.

Once the ticket has been completed, players need to hand it in to their retailer or put it through a terminal device themselves. A printout will be handed back containing the player’s selections; the most important thing for the player now is remembering to check his or her numbers when the draw comes up. Every year millions of dollars go unclaimed in lottery games, so remember first and foremost to keep your ticket safe and claim any prize within six months or a year, depending on the regulations!

If three or more numbers in the draw match those on your ticket, you’ve won a prize. Three, four or five number matches offer small to substantial winnings; five numbers plus the bonus offer a reward much greater, whilst matching six numbers means you’ve won the jackpot. If more than one person matches the six numbers then the prize will be shared equally between the winners.

Have you ever been tempted to play for those life-changing lotto jackpots, but didn’t want to stand in line? The Web could be your ticket.

Lotteries first became popular in the 1970s as an easy way to raise money for state projects and education. Today, 41 states have them in one form or another. But as the jackpots grow, the lines for tickets get longer.

The Internet is emerging as an alternative way for millions to play the odds. People from all over the world can try their luck at Mega Millions, Powerball, all U.S. Pick 3 and Pick 4 games and much more.

The site was designed to be easy to use; the interface is simple and there are no large graphics or software downloads to bog down your browser. To get started, sign up by completing a short online registration form and deposit money into your account. Then, simply choose the game you want to play and money will be deducted from your account.

Shortly after official results are posted, the games are scored and prizes are automatically posted to players’ accounts. World Lottery offers a variety of instant games, like Sweet Success, Hot Cash, Vacation in Paradise and Instant Keno. Those who participate in office football pools will enjoy World Lottery’s Football Pick games.

The principals at World Lottery have been in the lottery business for more than 30 years and pride themselves on customer service. People who register on the site get five free lottery tickets to “try before they buy.”

Tips to Win the Lottery

Don’t use family birthdays – this is a popular mistake!

Sure it lacks originality but more than that it reduces your chances of winning the lottery. Just think about it — the days and months only go up to 31 and 12. Even if you do win the lottery using your birth digits, the chances are you’ll have to split the winnings with more people. After all everyone’s birthday begins with 19 (and anyone who doesn’t should not be playing the lottery). The same applies to buying a ticket when there’s a bigger jackpot — more people play so the odds are more people win. Let’s be honest you don’t want to have to share your winnings with strangers anymore than you want to hear from your second cousin twice removed after a 20-year silence.

Don’t make a nice pattern!

Diagonal lines, straight lines, star shapes, boxes, zig-zags – doing this on your slip is silly. You might think you’re being smart but again, you and thousands of other people will have the exact same thought.

Check ball frequency!

They tell us it’s all totally random, but certain balls have a knack of being drawn more freqeuntly than others. Find out which ones apear most often when making your choices. Number seven and multiples of it are popular choices. And rightly so, number seven appears in the list of top 10 winning numbers in both the South African and UK lotteries.

Actually check the results!

You’d be suprised how many people don’t check whether they’ve won the lottery. What’s more, winning tickets have to be claimed within 180 days of the draw, otherwise the money goes off to the Lotto’s Good Causes fund. A ticket worth £9,476,995 was once distributed in this way and it was the 24th prize in excess of a million pounds to be unclaimed.

Become a worker!

Camelot recently released a list of the top Lottery-winning professions. Builders and workers have been the biggest winners, followed by administators and managers. The unluckiest in the Top 40? Poor funeral directors.

Go for a tarot card reading

It’s worked for some people. Housing officer Janette Wright was told by a tarot card reader that one day she would come into money. A few years later, she bought a Lucky Dip and promptly won a £1,633,505 Lotto jackpot.
